Thank-You

Our 2021 Christmas season has come to a close and our heartfelt thanks goes to everyone who supported the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau during what was again a trying and difficult year for everyone. We are stronger because of you, our community, and we applaud how everyone banded together to show us support. Thank-you.

We work diligently to make sure families can experience Christmas with dignity, and strive to help them provide positive holiday experiences for their children.

We don’t know what 2022 will bring, but we do know that you, our supporters, will once again help us create Christmas magic for children in our community!

All the best this holiday season!

2021 Motorcycle Toy Run Update

Due to the lead time for permits and the uncertainty of regulations around the every changing COVID-19 pandemic, and out of an abundance of caution, the 43rd annual Toy Run will not be happening in 2021.

We will fulfill our mandate to both help families, and support other bureaus and agencies in 2021, but without your help, this year is going to be a challenge as so many of our events will again be impacted due to COVID-19.

Our friends, and long time supporters, at Trev Deeley Motorcycles (1875 Boundary Rd, Vancouver) will be accepting new, unwrapped toys for donation to the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau from November 12th until December 24th, 2021. As always, you can also go to www.lmcb.ca and learn about other ways to donate and how to drop-off toys.

If you are having trouble thinking of what to donate, educational toys, and items for tweens/teens are always in high demand!

We are sad we aren't able to hold the Toy Run for the second year in a row, but we do want to thank all of you, our loyal and generous supporters!

The Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau directly supports approx. 1000 families in Vancouver and provides product support to a large group of community Christmas Bureaus and Agencies throughout the Lower Mainland.

Volunteer Opportunity - Board of Directors

The Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau (LMCB) is currently seeking 1-2 new Board members to join the organization. The LMCB’s Board of Directors comprises leaders from the non-profit and for-profit sectors in a governance and policy capacity, who are dedicated to the organization’s mission of empowering families in need to create Christmas experiences for their kids through the generosity of community. Serving on the LMCB Board of Directors is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about strengthening leadership and governance in the non-profit sector.

Thank-you

As we come to the close of our 2020 Christmas season, our 90th anniversary, we wish to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau during what was one of our most difficult years. You, our community, banded together in many different ways. Thank-you.

We worked diligently to ship toys to Christmas Bureaus and agencies throughout the Lower Mainland to provide support to their programs and like us at the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau, these organizations found ways to effectively welcome families despite the COVID pandemic.

Alongside our regional role, we also serve as the Christmas Bureau for Vancouver families. Each year, we work to serve as many low-income families and families on assistance as possible. Families receive a grocery store gift card to purchase items for a warm Christmas meal, and parents get to personally shop through our “Toy Store” to select a primary gift for each of their children, along with a book, a stuffed toy, and stocking stuffers. This process allows families to experience Christmas with dignity and gives them a chance to personalize it with care for their children.

This year, our “Pop-up Toy Store” looked a bit different with all the precautions we implemented to keep our team and the families visiting us safe, but we are so happy that we could find ways to make sure that families were able to visit and choose gifts for their children.

As we look forward to Christmas 2021, we know we will still be dealing with the effects of the pandemic, but we know that our community of supporters will once again step up and create Christmas magic for children in our community!

Merry Christmas, and all the best for 2021!

Volunteering Update 2020

Due to COVID-19, and out of an abundance of caution, we unfortunately will not be able to welcome volunteer groups at the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau this year. This was a difficult decision to make, but we have done so with staff, client, and volunteer safety in mind.

We are very grateful to all of the volunteers we welcome each year and look forward to when we can again welcome volunteer groups back to the Christmas Bureau again.

A Large Parade of Riders at the 41st Annual Vancouver Motorcycle Toy Run

With great excitement, the 41st Annual Vancouver Motorcycle Toy Run launched the start of the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau’s (LMCB) Christmas Giving Season.

On the beautiful crisp and clear morning of Sunday, October 6th, motorcyclists across the Lower Mainland gathered early in the morning at Coquitlam Centre for a spectacular parade with over 1,000 motorcycles bringing unwrapped toys and gifts to donate to the LMCB.

This exciting annual event left Coquitlam Centre at 9:30 am, roaring with excitement, through Coquitlam, Port Moody, Burnaby and Vancouver, to the gathering point at the Pacific Coliseum at the PNE, in Vancouver. It is estimated that 1,300 riders participated in this long-running event that gives back to communities across the Lower Mainland.

This year showcased a fantastic turnout of supporters with friends and family cheering on the riders as they made their way to the PNE to drop off toys. We are thrilled that more toys were collected than last year!

The LMCB is very appreciative of the years of support from the Cities of Coquitlam, Port Moody, Burnaby and Vancouver in working with us to organize this Toy Run.

We send a warm thank you to Mayor Richard Stewart of Coquitlam, Mayor Rob Vagramov of Port Moody, Mayer Mike Hurley of Burnaby and Deputy Mayor Lisa Dominato of Vancouver who came out to support our cause.

We would also like to thank our sponsors, in-kind donors and volunteers for not only making the event possible but also a success!

We thank the Burnaby RCMP, the Port Moody Police Department, the Vancouver Police Department, and all our route volunteers, including the Bee Cee Beemers, the Church of Scientology, the Sikh Motorcycle Club and the Vancouver Gospel Riders for providing volunteer support at the barricades to ensure the safety of riders along the the Toy Run route.
