Susan Levang: President
Susan has nearly 20 years progressive growth in Supply Chain, Operations, Logistics, Customer Service and Project Management. After earning a B.Sc at the University of Victoria and an MBA at McMaster University, she went on to work for contract manufacturers in several industries (Automotive, Natural Health Products, Electronics, Consumer Products). Working directly with major clients such as Lucent, Cisco, Juniper, IBM, GM, Honda, Toyota, Vega, Garden of Life, Genuine Health and Arbonne, Susan proved herself a hands-on leader with a track record of building teams to achieve outstanding success.
Susan believes communities are stronger when we each make a personal effort to improve our world. To that end, in addition to working with the LMCB, Susan also supports several other charities in Vancouver.
She is excited to work with the long established Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau!
Percy Tam: Treasurer
Percy holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting from the University of British Columbia. Percy attained his CPA, CA designation from KPMG in Vancouver and has over ten years of experience in accounting and finance.
Prior to joining the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau, Percy worked with local high schools and non-profit organizations to promote financial literacy for youth in the Lower Mainland.
As the Treasurer, Percy hopes to contribute to the best of his ability to the LMCB as it continues to carry on its mission of serving the local community in helping to make Christmas complete for every family.
Rob Jones-Cook: Secretary
Rob Jones-Cook has been a LMCB Director for nine years and assisted with LMCB events for many years before that. He has been married for thirty-seven years and has two adult children and four grandchildren.
He retired as Captain, Public Education and Relations at Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services, after serving over thirty years there. He taught fire safety, interacted with juvenile fire setters, and was the Department media spokesperson.
He was born in Vancouver and now resides in Langley Township. Rob has volunteered in many areas including Little League, Langley Scouts, Job’s Daughters, and Free Masonry. Due to his active volunteer life in both his community and through his employer and union, he was named as Fire Fighter of the Year in 1995. He served on the Executive Boards of Langley Scouts, North Langley Little League, Vancouver Fire Fighters Union Local 18, and Job’s Daughters.
Roy Hansen: Director
Roy Hansen, one of the founding members of Kruise for Kids event for LMCB (1990) has served on the board since the mid 1990s. Roy has volunteered for countless events and has provided technical expertise to the LMCB on mechanical projects, Mr. Hansen is a long time journeyman sheet metal worker, who when not working or volunteering for the LMCB, builds custom vehicles, and works on his collection of muscle cars and hot rods.
Areet Kaila: Director
Areet joined the Board of Directors in 2016 and is an associate of the firm Clark Wilson LLP practicing in the areas of taxation, corporate structuring, and estate planning. Areet also has experience assisting charitable organizations with registration, tax compliance and structuring matters.
Areet received her Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing from the University of British Columbia in 2006 and obtained her Bachelor of Laws degree (with distinction) from the University of Alberta in 2010. She was called to the British Columbia Bar in June 2011.
Keith Morgan: Director
Keith’s journalism career stretched back to 1975, when he joined The Blackpool Evening Gazette in the UK, his hometown newspaper. He moved to Vancouver in 1980, beginning a 34-year-career with The Province/Vancouver Sun, first as a reporter and then quickly taking on the crime beat. Latterly he created such specialty sections as Driving and Sunday Homes.
The multiple-award-winner has authored two books, made regular TV appearances, hosted radio talk shows and scripted a traffic safety quiz show for prime-time TV.
Keith has donated his creative abilities to the United Way and the Coast Foundation’s Courage to Come Back Awards. Back in the 1990s he revamped the Empty Stocking Fund for The Province and became its representative at the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau. In his return, Keith pledges to help develop the bureau’s marketing and communications strategy.
Warren Mui: Director
Warren has a heart for making an impact in his community. He is part of the fundraising team at the BC Lung Association and is also on the Board of Directors at the Vancouver Dodgeball League. Volunteering is a big part of his life and where he has spent so much of his time. His desire and goal at the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau is to make a difference to families in the community at such an important time of the year.
Leah Nguyen: Director
Leah joined the LMCB Board of Directors in 2016, and is excited to help the LMCB spread Christmas cheer in the communities it serves. She is an experienced management professional with over thirteen years of experience in multiple industries across Canada and The US including Retail, Telecommunications, Utilities, and Natural resources. Specific areas of expertise include strategy, business process design and improvement, program and project management, organization design, change management, service design, and operational readiness. She is currently a manager at TELUS in Consumer Products and Services, leading a team focused on driving initiatives to provide exceptional customer experiences through reliable services.
Leah graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration, First Class Honours, with concentrations in Marketing, Finance, and Management Information Systems. Leah stays connected to the SFU community, mentoring students through the Young Women in Business (YWiB) student club since 2010, and joining the YWiB board in 2013.
Darya Sawycky: Director
Darya is passionate about the meaning of Christmas and the joy of children. She was introduced to the importance of charitable giving and the value of giving back to her community as a young child. This foundational lesson included an annual December shopping trip with her Mom to the mall in Waterloo, Ontario, to choose and donate gifts for children in need through the support of the local Christmas Bureau.
Darya has carried these values through to her career, where she has spent close to twenty years in the fundraising profession, building relationships with inspirational donors to raise millions of dollars in support of charities in the social services, health, and education fields. She is currently Associate Director of Development at the University of British Columbia with a focus on creating strategic philanthropic partnerships at the $25,000+ level. Darya is a member of the Canadian Association of Gift Planners and holds an Honours Bachelor of Science from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario.
She is honoured to serve as Board Director and to contribute her time and talents to the wonderful work being done by the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau and its generous supporters.
